WHEN I WAS IN SCHOOL

Dear diary,

How has your week been so far? stressful? peaceful? whatever the case, i want you to cheer up because it's FRY-DAY!!! I literally do mean that.

About 2 weeks ago, I had the opportunity to attend the National Students Summit of Covenant Christian Center tagged; #WhenIWasInSchool. It was a program designed for mainly undergraduates and fresh graduates, teaching them how to make the most of their stay on campus and what was needed to succeed. I can confidently tell you that the task was carried out thoroughly. We were taught by 9 brilliant speakers, each one ready to pour out wise words. The summit imparted a lot of skills on the attendees, so much that i feel i should share some tips with those that couldn't make it.If you were present, take this as a stimulant to stimulate the evergreen memories of that beautiful event.

The first speaker for the day, Francis Ebuehi, started his session by teaching us a very vital and unforgettable lesson about being prepared, with the Credit game. According to him, in preparation for life; you should Develop working relationships with people, be visible in and out of your circle, always have an opinion, manage your money properly, be prepared for the unexpected.

"There are about 128,000 graduates out
there and only 22,000 jobs available. How do you become a partaker?"

The next speaker, Irunna Ejibe, enlightened us the more.. She shared with us a couple of skills that would be needed in and out of campus; Communication skills, interpersonal skills, literacy skills, number skills and entrepreneurship  skills

"Rather than agonize, you should organize a solution. add to your fascination
but also solve your frustration."

The third speaker for the day, Bankole Williams, talked to us about the importance of being a youth with a  purpose. On the road to discovery of passion, ask yourself: who am I? what problem can my passion solve? who has the problem? how will I find them? how will they find me? and finally, why me?

"you are only as successful as the people around you"

Next up was Enobong Ezekiel. She made a lot of us smile and laugh but not without reiterating the 5 fingers rule; Thumb-confidence finger, Small finger-committed finger, Ring finger-risk finger, Middle finger-talent finger and the Index finger-my call to action.

Chika Nwobi, gave us a new formula for success; Success= Hard word+X (what is X) While we were racking our brains for what x was, he led us to x after a series of definitions of success. X is staying connected to our source of life i.e God. If you have disconnected yourself from the source, its never to late to reconnect. Just like every football match that has a second half, we have a second chance with God. Let's play it to the end.

.

Nwamaka Kentebe, talked about making time count while in the university. Our goals should be smart, measurable and time bound. We should be able to evaluate them from time to time and reflect on them. To succeed, we need to be intentional in our actions and be present always

Akpo Kentebe, gave us very important tips on playing the game of life. To be GREAT, you need to
1. set GOALS.
 2. take RESPONSIBILITY for your life.
 3. be in a continuous state of READINESS.
4. have a spirit of Excellence.
 5. take ACTION always
 6. your ASSOCIATION is key
7. time MASTERY.

"At your decision point, ask youself "are you   going to watch life happen or are you going to be part of it?"

Other beautiful speakers at the event include Obinna Abajue and Julius Momoh. They captured the audience with their wealth of knowledge.

I hope you have been able to learn a few tips on success. Let this not be another motivational motivation. Get to work now because time waits for no one.
